"Mark Johnson and Johnson Sceptic Services are the best! We recently bought a 30 year old family home. Soon after we moved in we started having some sceptic issues. I called and interacted with at least 6 other companies, however none of them came close to the knowledge, patience, and expertise of Mark. Multiple firms sent significantly lower bids for the job without even coming to look at the job site just to try and win the business. One company recommended we cut down 2-3 large oak trees that are beautiful and probably over 100 years old, another company didn’t even discuss the job but just walked around our lot talking about the view, and no one else gave us the option of a pipe and gravel sceptic field which lasts longer and is much better for our sceptic system with all of the mature trees around our sceptic field area.
Mark set himself apart not only before the job but during and after as well. He came out and spent at least an hour with me educating me on the job at hand. He explained to me a detailed price breakdown for the job and discussed how if he over estimates the number of loads needed for the job he would reduce the price or if he underestimated he would not come back to charge me more. Other companies had significant price increases for extra number of loads in the fine print making it hard to understand true cost of the project. During the job these guys worked hard and nonstop. It took them two days to complete my sceptic field replacement (800 SF field, 5-6 ft deep with about 20 dump truck loads in and out). The only time they stopped working was when I was being annoying and had a question about the project. They worked through rain and got the job done as it was just before Thanksgiving so Mark wanted to make sure our project was complete and clean before a slew of family descended on our household.
Then this past weekend Mark proved his professionalism, integrity, and customer service excellence one step further. We’ve been having a breaker continue to trip that runs the sump pump for the sceptic system. I texted Mark around 9:30-10pm on Saturday night when it had tripped yet again. I was pretty frustrated as we just spent a lot of time and money on the field and I was worried we had a different problem now. Mark said he would come look at the pump in the morning, and I told him I’d be gone from 9:30am-noon at church. He was at my house by 8am. Checked the pump (which was fine) and spent 15 mins explaining to me that the electrical breaker was probably the problem as it is normally a 15amp breaker and pumps usually need 20amp breakers. He explained in detail what I needed to communicate to an electrician (who had missed this issue in the past) on how to fix the problem long-term and how to put a bandaid on it short-term.
Needless to say we are beyond pleased that we chose Mark and his crew to help us with our sceptic field. If you are going back and forth between choosing another company and Johnson Sceptic Service, do yourself a favor and just pick Mark and save yourself the time. I spent 2 months researching and getting quotes from other companies and I wish I had called my best friend about it prior. After Mark completed the our job I went to lunch with my friend and he told me they used Mark for their sceptic field on their custom home build and Mark was by far the best subcontractor that set foot on his property throughout their entire build. Seems to be a running theme for them, excellence in work and customer service.
